School Gate
Brussels North
In collaboration with Alice van Innis we worked a year long around the activation of the connection between the green spaces around the primary school Klavertje 4 and the awareness of soft mobility users.
Several organisations were involved in the process, and the result was a mural at the school gate chosen and painted by the Klavertje 4 primary school students and more than 100 flags around the neighbourhood marking the safe routes for the children to take from the parks to school.
Vision
Activation of the school and neighbourhood to make the environment around the school safer for children and soft mobility users.
To strengthen the relationship between the school, the children, their parents and the community, promoting social cohesion.
Outcomes
Safer routes:
The activation of the school and organisations in the area allowed for more awareness for children and soft mobility users around the public space.
Stronger sense of belonging:
Involving kids in the identity of the school resulted in a stronger connection with their surroundings.
Subjective map:
A map of different routes that connect the school with different parks was created in the form of murals, flags and an illustration printed on postcards.
